Overview & Responsibilities

At Service Corporation International we are looking for an expereinced Real Estate Paralegal for our corpoate headquarters in Midtown, Houston Texas.

This position plays a key real estate and licensing role in a busy acquisition and divestiture practice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Order and review title reports.

  • Review and analyze surveys.

  • Draft objection letters in the event of any survey and title issues.

  • Prepare closing checklist and closing documents with assistance of legal counsel.

  • Coordinate closings.

  • Prepare deeds and transfers documents.

  • Communicate with title company and opposing parties concerning real estate and licensing matters.

  • Employee will be heavily involved in problem solving solutions and will act as a liaison with business owners and internal business units to resolve issues that may arise from transactions.

  • Employee will be responsible for ensuring that state-specific regulatory requirements regarding divestitures and acquisitions are met.

  • Assist the attorneys handling the divestitures and/or acquisitions as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Highly organized

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Highly responsive during closings

  • Experience closing transactions

  • Must be able to research and summarize statues and rules and make required regulatory filings with assistance of legal counsel

  • 5+ years of legal research and writing

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
