Service Corporation International (SCI) Corporate - Treasury Analyst II in Jefferson, Louisiana

Overview & Responsibilities

Supports the Treasury Department Managers and Directors. Performs activities relating to cash management operations, investments, debt programs, and other special projects as directed by the management team.


70% - Debt-related Accounting

  • Prepares rollforwards of corporate debt, interest accrual, restricted cash, investment and deferred loan costs on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

  • Prepares detailed analyses of interest expense and cash interest.

  • Makes journal entries to update G/L for debt related accounts as necessary.

  • Attends monthly first and final GL close meetings.

  • Completes monthly exceptions reports for Treasury related accounting entries.

  • Prepares reconciliations in reconciliation software, Blackline

  • Prepares Treasury assigned areas of responsibility for quarterly and annual SEC forms.

  • Prepares quarterly and annual debt covenant packages.

  • Assist with resolution of accounting issues as necessary.

  • Maintain the letter of credit reports and facilitate the amendment/renewal/cancellation process

  • Assist with the company’s debt forecasting process

25% - Cash Management/Bank Accounts

  • Serve as primary back-up for initiation and release of wires and ACHs across various banking platforms

  • Conduct quarterly review of all bank accounts to ensure our internal files are consistent with bank records

  • Review bank accounts for closing opportunities and other related changes and make recommendations to management

  • Assists other Treasury team members with bank documentation that could include writing letters to the bank to open/close accounts.

  • Respond to “know your customer” inquiries from various banks

  • Maintains information on the company’s bank accounts and bank account structure within the specified software product.

  • Maintain information and prepare filings necessary for compliance with foreign bank account reporting(FBAR).

  • Dual custody review of corporate deposits

  • Works with outside departments to obtain statements or transactional detail verification as requested or complete other research as required to effect closure of the query.

  • Other special banking projects as directed by management

5% - Compliance and Auditing

  • Verifies for accuracy and propriety all third party billings in connection with debt service requirements, as well as various fees associated with Credit Facility Agreement. Properly code such billings for G/L entry.

  • Assists Managers in tracking internal and external audit deliverables on a quarterly and monthly basis.

  • Ensures maintenance of SOX controls as they pertain to the assigned areas and interact with internal and external auditors on such matters.

Requirements & Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field


  • 3 years of experience in a finance, treasury, and/or accounting operations role or equivalent experience in a related field

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong planning, organizational and problem solving abilities

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications and systems, including Excel, Oracle, TMS

  • Attention to detail
