Service Corporation International (SCI) Automotive Maintenance Technician in Lansing, Michigan

Overview & Responsibilities

We currently have a part time opening for an Automotive Maintenance Technician at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in Lansing, MI. Performs minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on company vehicles.


  • Troubleshoots diagnoses and completes repairs on all types of company vehicles.

  • Performs preventive maintenance.

  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and waxing.

  • Performs periodic systems checks and daily maintenance checks of automotive equipment for interior and exterior cleanliness.

  • Responds to minor emergency mechanical issues.

  • Ensures vehicle maintenance supplies and parts are ordered and in stock.

  • Provides full service on equipment all seasons.

  • Checks gas and oil on daily basis.

  • Checks tire pressure daily and maintains proper air pressure.

  • Cleans and maintains garage area in an orderly condition.

  • Reports any system malfunction of automotive equipment to the Location Manager.

  • Ensures compliance with MAPS/WHEELS programs.

  • Ensures all vehicles’ licenses and insurance are current.

Requirements & Qualifications


  • High School or GED equivalent


  • ASE certification preferred


  • 1 + years of mechanic experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to work effectively with others
